SCORING

Knock down 1 pin

Score the number shown on that pin.

Knock down multiple pins

Score equals the number of pins that fall - not the sum of their numbers.

Example:

If 4 pins fall, you score 4 points — regardless of which numbers are on them.

HOW TO PLAY

Can be played on grass, astro, sand, gravel or indoor carpeted areas. Keep your scores on the app, jot them down on paper or add them up in your head! (great for kids maths!)

  1. 1 Choose your Smitch (your playing areas)
  2. 2 Set the pins out in a triangular formation as shown in the diagram.
  3. 3 Place the wooden marker approximately 4 meters from the pins.
  4. 4 Decide who thrown first (Smite Off!)
  5. 5 Player throw the Smiter underarm to hit and spread the pins - no overarm throwing!
  6. 6 After each turn, fallen pins are stood back up where they land. Over time they spread out, creating new shot angles.
  7. 7 To win reach exactly 50 points. Go over and you're bust - score reset to 25
  8. 8 Any player failing to score on 3 consecutive throws is "Smitten" and eliminated. If you score after missing once or twice in a row your misses are reset to zero.

PLAYING FORMATS

Singles

1 vs 1 - or multiple individual players competing against each other.

Pairs

2 vs 2 - or multiple pairs competing against each other.

THE "SMITTEN" RULE IN TEAMS

  • A pair is Smitten if they miss 3 shots in a row between them.
  • If either player scores after the first or second missed throw, the miss count resets to 0.
  • This adds pressure, teamwork and excitement - especially in tight endgames!

Tactics & Strategy — Where the Fun Really Begins!

As players close in on 50 points, Smite becomes highly tactical. Because pins spread out with each turn, every throw can affect both your own scoring options and your opponent's.

  1. 1

    PIN CONTROL

Deliberately knock certain pins further away to make them harder for your opponent to reach - particularly valuable when they're close to winning.

  2. 2

    SHAPPING THE FIELD

Nudge isolated pins closer to others. This makes it much harder for opponents to isolate a single pin when they need a precise score.

  3. 3

    PAIRS COMMUNICATION

When playing in pairs, discuss shot selection and risk level between throws. Good communication is the difference between a winning strategy and a wasted turn.

YOUR SCORE HOW TO WIN
49 pts

Hit the number 1 pin on its own - notoriously tricky, especially if it's sitting close to another pin!

47 pts

Either knock down the number 3 pin on its own, or knock down any 3 pins together.

Perfect

5 Smite Finish - reach exactly 50 points in just 5 consecutive throws. The ultimate Smiting achievement! Up there with a 9 dart finish or a 147 in snooker!

These tactical layers transform Smite into a brilliant blend of accuracy, planning, teamwork, and clever disruption. Prepare yourselves for loud celebrations and screams of frustration!
